Exploring a city on your trip with a local friend
Travelling alone or arriving in an unfamiliar city often means missing what only residents know. Here is how a verified BFF can show you a neighbourhood during a friendly walk.

The trouble with travelling solo
A guidebook lists the landmarks, but not the café where locals meet or the street worth the detour. When you travel alone you also hesitate to wander, you do not know who to ask, and the day quickly turns into ticking off a list of famous places.
Why go out with someone local
A resident knows the opening hours that matter, the quiet spots, the shortcuts and the local habits. You save time, you dare more, and you talk with someone instead of walking alone. On Rent a BFF you pick a verified profile in the city where you are staying, you decide the activity (a walk, a coffee, a market, a neighbourhood to explore) and you are free to stop after an hour.
Who it is for
- Solo travellers who want to discover a neighbourhood without following an organised tour.
- Business travellers with a free evening or afternoon in an unfamiliar city.
- Students and expats who have just arrived and want to get to know their new city.
- Travellers who want to practise the local language while walking, see also renting a friend: the complete guide.
What it is not
It is not a licensed tour guide, a transport service or a dating site. The company on offer is strictly friendly and platonic. Your BFF walks and chats with you, and does not replace an official guided tour. For the rules in France, read renting a friend: is it legal?.
How it works in practice
You find a BFF in the city you are visiting and send a request with the date and the activity. Once the request is accepted, you pay the 15% booking fee online, then you pay the BFF's hourly rate directly on the spot. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and the fee is refunded. To estimate your budget, see [how much does renting a friend cost](/combien-coute-louer-un-ami).
Always meet your BFF in a public place, read their profile and reviews before booking, and tell someone close to you about your plans. If anything makes you uncomfortable, you can end the meeting at any time.
