Data controller
Rent a BFF (formerly Buddly) is published by RS TRANSPORTEUR. The data controller is RS TRANSPORTEUR, a simplified joint-stock company (société par actions simplifiée, SIREN 130 986 185), 2 rue du Pilon du Roi, 13127 Vitrolles. Contact: bilel.t.pro@gmail.com or the form on the contact page.
Data collected
We collect the data you give us (first name, email, city, profile photo for BFFs, content of messages), the ID documents and selfies sent by BFFs for verification, as well as the data needed for bookings and payments. Card numbers are entered and processed by our provider Mollie: Rent a BFF does not see them and does not keep them.
Purposes
Your data is used to: create and manage your account, enable connections and bookings, secure payments, ensure the security of the platform, and contact you when needed.
Safety of exchanges and moderation
To protect members and BFFs (strictly friendly meetups, payments only through Rent a BFF), the Rent a BFF team may review the messages exchanged on the platform, bookings and reports, and suspend an account that does not follow the rules. Only the Rent a BFF administrator has access to them. ID documents sent for verification are kept for the duration of the review, then deleted automatically 3 days after the decision.
IP address and site language
The site is available in 8 languages: French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Polish. The language is chosen based on your browser's language, then, if that is missing, based on the country deduced from your IP address at the time of your visit (the address is not stored for this purpose). This choice is remembered in a technical cookie, “buddly_locale”, for 1 year. You can change the language at any time in the menu; that choice is kept in the same cookie.
Apart from this language choice, your IP address is used only for security: limiting repeated attempts (login, forms) and protecting your account. It is turned into a non-reversible fingerprint and is not stored in plain text. The country and approximate city provided by the host are recorded in your account's login log, to spot an unusual login.
Audience measurement and login log
Rent a BFF counts page views without cookies and without storing your IP address: a daily fingerprint, which changes every day, makes it possible to count distinct visitors. Logins to your account (date, device type, browser, approximate city) are kept for the security of your account.
Legal basis and retention
Processing is based on the performance of the contract, your consent (Google Analytics audience measurement), our legal obligations (accounting, reporting BFFs' income) and our legitimate interest in securing the service.
Retention periods:
- Account and profile: until the account is deleted, or after 3 years without any login.
- BFFs' ID documents and selfies: deleted 3 days after the verification decision.
- Messages: as long as the account exists.
- Bank card data: kept by Mollie, never by Rent a BFF.
- Bookings, payments and accounting data: 10 years (accounting obligation).
- Account login log: 12 months.
Processors
We use the following providers, which process data only on our behalf:
- Vercel: website hosting (United States).
- Convex: database (Ireland).
- Resend: sending emails (United States).
- Mollie: payment of booking fees (Netherlands).
- Google Analytics: audience measurement, only after your consent (United States).
- Vercel Web Analytics: anonymous counting of page views, without cookies or personal identifiers (United States).
When data is sent outside the European Union (United States), this transfer is governed by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or by the Data Privacy Framework (EU – US data protection framework).
