The real price range
On Rent a BFF, each BFF freely sets their hourly rate, starting at €10 per hour, with no upper limit. There is no single price imposed by the platform: the rate depends on the BFF's experience, the type of activity (a simple coffee usually costs less than several hours of company at an event) and the city. The hourly rate is always visible on the BFF's profile before you send a request, and the total including the booking fee is shown before payment.
What makes the price vary
- Duration: one hour of company costs less than half a day, since the hourly rate is multiplied by the number of hours booked, with no surcharge.
- City: in big cities such as Paris or Lyon, some BFFs set a slightly higher rate, as with most personal services.
- Type of activity: a coffee or a walk is usually at the lower end of the range, company at an event (wedding, party, cultural outing) rather at the upper end.
- The BFF's experience: a profile that collects positive feedback may set a slightly higher rate, like any independent provider.
No hidden fees
The rate set by the BFF is the starting point. Rent a BFF adds a 15% booking fee, paid by the member: a rate of €25/h comes to €28.75/h in total, and that “all-inclusive” price is what you see on profiles. The total is always shown before payment, never discovered afterwards. Once your request is accepted, you pay only the booking fee online, then pay the BFF in person, and you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before. For members, signing up and searching are completely free: you only pay for what you actually book.
Renting a friend vs a monthly subscription
Many matchmaking services (dating, coaching, communities) work with a fixed monthly subscription, whether you use it or not. Renting a friend on Rent a BFF works differently: you only pay when a BFF accepts your meeting request, by the hour. Someone who books two hours of company once a month will usually spend less than on a typical monthly subscription, while staying free to pay nothing in the months they do not need it.
What about other countries?
Paid friendly company has existed for several years in other countries, with starting rates usually around $20 to $25 per hour, a similar order of magnitude to the rates on Rent a BFF. On Rent a BFF, every BFF goes through a mandatory identity check (ID document and selfie checked by hand) before their profile is published. See also: is renting a friend legal in France. A concrete budget example
A 1.5-hour coffee with a BFF at €20/h costs €30, plus a 15% booking fee (€4.50), so €34.50, shown before payment: the €4.50 is paid online and the €30 is paid to the BFF in person. A budget comparable to a restaurant meal for two.
The rates mentioned in this article are the range recommended to BFFs, not guaranteed prices. Each BFF remains free to set their own rate. Always check the price shown on the profile before booking.
